In this post: Teaser, Top Ten, Tune In
Teasers:
She had resolved that one and twenty should be the period. With the fortitude of a devoted noviciate, she had resolved to complete the sacrifice, and retire from all the pleasures of life, of rational intercourse, equal society, peace and hope, to penance and mortification forever.
p. 423, "Emma" by Jane Austen (Volume II, Collected Edition)
A classic look at misconstrued romance. Foolish, arrogant, sensible, oblivious or endearing characters are excellently portrayed. If you've read this before, marvel anew at how people from way way back are actually alike ourselves nowadays in many ways. If not, get ready to observe human behavior described with humor and skill that made Jane Austen a much-loved author with millions of fans.

Tune In : Song of Wandering Aengus
There's a new kind of fun around here - exploring literary works, especially classical poetry set into music. Here's one I found:
Lyrics from a poem of the same title by W.B. Yeats
Vocals by Donovan & Video illustration by Sissham

What a great book. Loved the movie too, even though the book was better. Thanks for sharing and stopping by my blog.

Retire from all pleasures of life...hmm, what ever caused her to vow to such a thing? Lol. That's kinda sad.. This book is a little too classic for my liking, but it is a great teaser nonetheless. :)
ReplyDeleteLuckily, that resolve didn't last. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
I love your top ten list. The only one I have read is To Kill A Mockingbird. My son had to read it for school so I read along with him. It's actually a really good book.
ReplyDeleteNew follower.
Great teaser! I've been meaning to re-read it this year =)
ReplyDeleteHere's my teaser and my Top Ten for this week! =)
21 is when fun starts, not when it ends! ..at least for us. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the 3 book memes - hadn't seen top ten books or tune in ones - thanks!
ReplyDeleteI really need to read Emma. Thanks for posting a teaser from it.
ReplyDeleteHere's mine: Sandy's Teaser
Never read Emma, but it sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI am almost embarrassed to admit I have never finished a Jane Austen book, but your teaser has me intrigued. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and stopping by my blog. Nice entry! i like the teaser! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you like(d) Emma more than I did. It's my least favorite Austen. Of your list of ten, I have read seven and liked all but #4 (and I ended up reading it twice, no less. Shudder.) Thanks for visiting today!
ReplyDeleteDid Emma annoy you? :) Thank you Heather for your thoughts on my list.
